After our adventure at the Chamber of the Basilisk, we weren’t exactly sure what we wanted to do. We thought about doing Little Wild Horse or Ding and Dang Canyons but we talked to the ranger and he said there was quite a bit of water in the canyons. We weren’t prepared to be trudging through mud and water. Capitol Reef was only about 45 minutes away and it has become our go to place, so we decided we wanted to see it with the fall colors. When we got the Capitol Reef, we didn’t know what hike we wanted to do. Since we go there quite frequently we have done the major hikes like Hickman Bridge and Cassidy Arch (canyoneered it three times this year!) so we chose a random hike called the Golden Throne. One of the reasons Capitol Reef is our favorite is because of the lack of people. We started this hike around 4PM and only passed one other couple on the trail. When we reached the top, we were the only ones there. This wasn’t our favorite hike we have ever done, but it honestly just felt good to get out of the car and do some hiking. The hike is only 4 miles roundtrip, which is the perfect length.
After the hike, we headed to our favorite restaurant in Torrey called the Red Cliff Cafe. I seriously love this place so much. The sweet potato waffle fries and grilled chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun is my jam. I’m craving it as I type this.
