This was by far the best trip to Yellowstone trip I have ever had. My parents invited us to come along on a quick weekend trip to West Yellowstone. I have compiled a list of all that we saw and did. I have never seen as many animals as we did. We also made a whole loop of the park and did so much! I think we ended up seeing all the major sights.
WHERE WE STAYED: Yellowstone Park KOA. This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Yellowstone through West. The little cabins are excellent and there is even a hot tub that we visited both nights!
WHERE WE ATE:
Pete’s Rocky Mountain Pizza. I love this pizza; it is always very tasty!
Beartooth BBQ. This place was amazing. I had the shredded beef brisket sandwich. I’m still thinking about that excellent brisket and spicy BBQ sauce.
ANIMALS WE SAW:
6 bears (I have never seen a bear in all my trips to Yellowstone so I was ecstatic to finally see not only one, but SIX! and the cubs were climbing trees. The cutest things I’ve ever seen.)
2 big horn sheep!
Too many elk to count.
Also, too many bison to count.
2 mountain goats! (Look close and you will see their white bodies.)
1 coyote. (Probably mistaken for a wolf by some.)
4 trumpeter swans.
THINGS WE DID:
Woke up at 5:30 and got into the park before sunrise. Watched the sunrise in the most beautiful place!
Looked out of binos and the scope more times than we can count.
Stopped at Tower Falls.
Made a pitstop at Mammoth Hot Springs.
Wore my parents out!
Saw the epic Grand Prismatic Spring.
Walked up right as Old Faithful was erupting.
Stopped for a few photos at Yellowstone Lake.
Hiked Uncle Tom’s Trail. This trail is one of our favorites. It is 328 stairs down to an amazing view of Lower Falls; the hardest part is coming right back up those stairs! My calves were burning.
Got artistic at Artist Point.
Looked over Lower Falls at Brink of Lower Falls.
Stopped at several different geysers and springs.
Thanks mom and dad for letting us come along. Best Yellowstone Trip ever!
